Triathlon

The triathlon combines the disciplines of swimming, cycling and running. Participants can travel different distances, but the most common is the Olympic distance involving 1.5km swim, 40km bike race and 10.

Nutritional aspects key to successful triathlete:

1. Calorie intake: calories needs vary greatly depending on the distance, height, weight and physical condition of each triathlete therefore must be calculated individually and distribute it in small doses throughout the day.

2. Carbohydrate intake: we have seen that those athletes who consume more carbohydrates tests completed in less time than those with the lowest intake. The recommended intake of between 7-10g of carbohydrates per kg of body weight per day. An easy and convenient way of supplying these nutrients is the form of bars and / or gels.

3. Protein intake: you also need a proper contribution of these macronutrients to improve strength and power and to prevent injury. It is recommended between 1.4 and 1.7 g per kg of body weight per day. The protein shakes can help supplement our diet.
